How PV systems work with LiFePo4 batteries.

How does photovoltaic work?

The question many people ask is: how does solar energy work? Unlike energy from wind turbines or power plants, PV solar panels have no moving parts - so how exactly is this energy generated?

Solar panelscapture energy from the sun and convert them into electricity and heat. Solar energy generates electricity using silicon-based photovoltaic cells. Multiple PV cells form a solar panel, and many solar panels are joined together to form an array, typically covering rooftops or solar farms.


How can LiFePo4 batteries be connected to PV systems?

The LiFePo4 battery is used to store the electricity generated by the PV system. It is not connected directly to the PV system, since a solar charge controller is first interposed to convert the electricity. This current is then stored by the battery. The inverter is connected to the battery and converts the direct current from the battery into alternating current. This alternating current corresponds to the 230V power supply and supplies all standard household devices.

    So why operate a PV system with LiFePo4 batteries?

    Besides the long lifetime of LiFePo4 batteries and the uncomplicated and seamless integration into PV systems, they can serve as a good replacement for more traditional heating and against electricity dependencies. They are a good substitute for gas heaters, since air heat pumps can be operated with the electricity generated by PV systems without any problems. This means that houses can become independent of gas or the electricity grid.

    Even smaller systems, such as balcony power plants, can lead to a reduction in electricity dependency. They can be operated on a small area with minimal effort and significantly reduce the electricity consumption and electricity dependency of a household.
